Academy of European Law (AEL) Summer Course on The Law of the European Union
The Academy of European Law (AEL) is pleased to announce its two summer courses for 2025 on The Law of the European Union and Human Rights. The course on The Law of the European Union will be held both in person and online from 16 - 27 June 2025.
Programme Highlights
The General Course for 2025 will focus on European Data Law, presented by Professor Thomas Streinz. This course will explore the rapid growth and development of EU data regulation, extending beyond data protection and addressing implications in an era of global digitalization for the EU and its member states, as well as globally.
The Specialized Courses will delve into the Challenges of European Refugee and Asylum Law and Policy, delivered by a panel of leading experts. Topics will include the impact of colonialism, the challenges of the new Migration Pact, recognition practices, and broader reflections on the institutional and governance challenges of EU refugee and asylum policy. The lecturers will include Professors Cathryn Costello, Andrew Geddes, Iris Goldner Lang, Violeta Moreno-Lax, Joyce De Coninck, and Janine Silga.
Complementing the General and Specialized Courses, there will be two Distinguished Lectures by experts in EU governance, including AFSJ and digitalization, namely Professors Deirdre Curtin and Katerina Linos.
